10 Playing Suggestions: "How to Cross the Center Line"

In my previous blog I highlighted the "why" of crossing the midline. Now here is the "how" this can be practiced every day in a playful way. Tips and play suggestions have been collected in a Facebook call. Additions are always welcome to make the playful practice as varied and fun as possible.

Tips for playfully crossing the center line:

  1. Exercise therapist Marieke saw this air hockey game in the store and couldn't resist it. Super handy to stimulate lying on the stomach, improve eye-hand coordination and practice crossing the midline.
    2. Therapist Miriam: Place puzzle pieces around the place where the puzzle is being made instead of to one side.

3. Remidal teacher Damayanti: I practice this more through brain gym exercises like lifting your right knee and tapping it with your left hand and then conversely tapping your left knee with your right hand etc. And of course by writing the lying eight on paper/in the air. And walking with crossed steps over a line and reciting the tables while doing so, for example.

4. Miss Katrijn: Putting pennies in a piggy bank. Two bowls, place on the right and left. Pennies from the right bowl go into the piggy bank on the left side and vice versa.

5. Ine: With juggling cloths: throwing and catching with crossed arms, for example... there are endless variations to think of

6. Educational assistant Hanneke:Sit in a circle and pass the ball . First clockwise, then counterclockwise, cross the midline above your head and behind your back with large balls in a circle

7. Toys42hands toy tip: magnetic marble track. Build the track so that there are starting possibilities for the marble on the right and left. Stand directly in front of the marble track and with your left hand let the marble start on the right and with your right hand let the marble start on the left.

Drawing with mega cord

Drawing, but completely different. Or is it embroidery? The special embroidery board holds the lace where your child wants it. The lace only needs to be pressed into a hole with the special pen. The hole will then hold the lace in place. For the next stripe, the lace goes into the next hole. To remove a drawing, all you have to do is pull the lace. This toy stimulates your child's creativity, dexterity and coordination.
Children playfully learn to hold a pen and regulate the strength of their hands and fingers.
It is large enough for two children to play at the same time. If a child has it straight in front of his body, crossing the midline is a good exercise.

Soft, beautifully colored wipes to throw, catch, wave and do magic with!
They fly wonderfully slowly, so children have more time and a greater chance of grabbing these juggling towels. Holding a cloth in each hand and doing waving exercises creates a beautiful color show and looking through it gives a magical look.
Music lessons also often involve dancing and this is extra festive with dance cloths. They are first used to play with the wind, the song who waa blow, wave, wave fits nicely with that. And then add some swinging or classical music to dance and sway to.
And all children love to hide: Peekaboo, cloth over your eyes or cloth over mom's head and ... there you are again.
A good exercise for crossing the center line: tossing and catching with crossed arms. There are of course many more variations on this.

Silent air hockey neoprene 2er

Handy small Airhockey set for home or practice without a special table.
With no fewer than four pucks for more playing options.
It is a game that consists of a table, a puck and two pods with which the puck must be hit into the goal (normally narrow slit on the short sides). In this variant any table, desk or floor can be used. On the short sides goals themselves are marked. The two large rings are the pods with which the small circles, the pucks must be pushed into the goal of the opponent.
The neoprene material makes the pucks slide very easily across the table and the game is silent and painless if someone does get hit.
Hand and eye coordination are trained and force regulation is also practiced.
