Clay is a great material to stimulate creativity and sensory experiences in children and adults. Some children love it, while others avoid it. In this text, you will discover that different types of clay can contribute to the fun of playing and the development of fine motor skills. Whether you are an old acquaintance or discovering clay for the first time, there is always more to discover.
For children who like to play with clay
There are children who love to knead. They can sink into modelling clay for hours every day, relaxing and creating. For more sensory experiences, trying out different types of clay is an enrichment of the game. Which type of clay is best for building, designing landscapes, relaxing and de-stimulating? Which clay is easy to roll out? Which can be stretched the longest? For children who love clay, trying out new types is a wonderful journey of discovery.
For children who don't like clay
There are also children who do not like to put their fingers in clay. For these children, a structured construction with a large variety of varieties is useful. There is clay that does not stick to your hands, that smells or does not, that crumbles or stays together nicely. By exploring together and slowly, the boundary to make sensory experiences possible and to expand them can perhaps be shifted.
For adults
Of course, there are also adults who really like or don't like clay at all. Most adults only learned one type of clay as a child, so there is a lot to be gained here on a sensory level. Clay can also be used very specifically for certain finger and hand exercises. Here too, you can build up with different types.
Go on a journey of discovery and experiment with different types of clay!
