I asked our eight year old daughter if she would like to help me take pictures of the foam beads .
“Yes, but it's a bit childish,” was her answer.

Foam beads and pipe cleaner
We used a pipe cleaner as stringing cord. That is easier for small children's hands than a wobbly wire and for our big daughter it was something different.
She started with the flower: "The flowers are going wrong. The hole should be on the side."

"Look, stars and hearts give a different pattern."

 Of course you can also sort them by: color, shape and size.
"Black is very beautiful!"

Pipe cleaners are not only the ideal stringing aid for beads, you can do much more with pipe cleaners! Your child can learn a lot new with these pipe cleaners: bending, feeling, twisting or stringing beads and with a little imagination there is much more to think of and make. With the pipe cleaners a child can practice fine motor skills and the nice feeling of the soft exterior stimulates the fingers. And for older children there are many applications for crafts, such as making an animal or a house.
