6 Executive Functions: With Apple Twist from Smart Games

Who doesn't know them? And if you don't know them yet, it's high time to get acquainted with these beautiful, versatile, attractive games.

How does it work?

  1. Select the assignment you want to complete.
  2. Make sure the apple is in the right position, you can turn the apple. (see photo)
  3. Place the three caterpillars so that they fill the holes in the apple.
  4. You may also need to bend the caterpillars a little (differently).

Motor skills and spatial insight

In my practice I often see children whose motor skills and/or spatial insight do not work ideally. That is why I often look for materials and games where this is trained. This game is extremely suitable for this. They first have to turn the apple so that the combination is correct. The caterpillars can also take on different shapes.

Rebuild

In this game you will place caterpillars on an apple. The apple has a certain pattern (depending on the combination of numbers and letters that must be formed). The caterpillars must then be placed in those holes. In the first level you will receive quite a few tips (color, shape), but the further you get the less information is given. There are three caterpillars that are flexible and therefore must be placed on the apple in the right shape.

Available for use

Apple Twist, like most other Smart Games, is a game to be played individually.

Happy colours

It looks very attractive and cheerful.

Executive functions

Multiple executive functions are engaged.

  1. Planning : what should I take into account, good caterpillar, good shape
  2. Spatial insight : from 2D to 3D
  3. Visual observation : look carefully at which hole the caterpillar's head should be in and continue building and turning in this way
  4. Problem solving thinking : you have to come up with a plan to properly recreate the structure, where do you start? which caterpillar do I start with? which one next? how do I put the caterpillars down? how should they be bent?
  5. Emotion regulation : staying calm and trying other ways
  6. Perseverance : Do you give up easily? Because it's harder than it seems at first
