What a strange ball! That was my first thought when I got my hands on it. But all my doubts quickly disappeared. This ball is super sturdy, fits well in the hand, has a nice weight and is really durable. Lena and Felix, the developers, are gym teachers with a passion for their profession. They were looking for an alternative to the ever-breaking foam rubber and elephant wood balls that are often used in gyms. And they succeeded! The snowballs are produced in Germany in social workplaces and are designed for a long life. But above all, they offer a lot of fun!

If you are looking for playful and educational ways to use snowballs, you have come to the right place. On the Trockene Schneebälle blog and on their Instagram page you will find lots of fun suggestions for games and activities. I have already made a small preview for you, with a few ideas that you can try out right away.

Playful Ideas for the Snowballs

  1. Cone Throwing Place a few cones on a bench and have the snowballs thrown at the cones. This is a great exercise for coordination, power control and accurate throwing. It also requires a good amount of precision to hit the cones!

  2. Roll in the Ring Place four rings in a row and try to roll the snowballs into the rings so that they stay in the ring. This game promotes coordination, patience and dexterity. Perfect for children who want to improve their motor skills.

  3. Fine Motor Skills: Clothespins The unique shape of the snowballs allows clothespins to be clipped into the ball. This is a great way to train hand-eye coordination and ambidexterity while working on dexterity.

  4. Talking Ball The ball is in your hands, and then it's your turn to say something! Not only is it clear and visible who's turn it is, but it also offers a fun way to talk and share. In addition, it's nice to have a physical ball in your hands when you speak.

  5. Random Number Generator Put notes with the children's names in the ball. Throw the ball and the person who catches it gets to draw a name from the ball. A fun way to make random choices in games or activities!

  6. Moving Learning Put small notes with sums in the ball. Throw the ball, and whoever catches the ball, draws a card, solves the sum and throws the ball further. This makes learning fun and active, perfect for a dynamic and interactive lesson.
