In 1987, Scott Stillinger thought his children's little hands couldn't grip a ball properly. He tied rubber bands together to create a small ball that was easy to grasp, even for small children's hands.
While looking for a name for this unusual toy, he noticed the sound the ball makes when it lands in his hands. The Koosh ball was born.
