This spinning top has a long side handle. This makes it more manageable for your child: hold on one side, pull on the other. The two hands are next to each other, which simplifies steering.

The stick of the spinning top is placed in the handle, the string is passed through the small hole and wound by hand. Maybe mom or dad should help out. Now the spinning top can be released and it whizzes through the room.
